Ingredients for Ilish Paturi:

  1. 500 gm Ilish fish/Hilsa ilisha.
  2. 2 tbsp Black and yellow mustared paste.
  3. 1 tbsp Poppy seeds/khus khus paste.
  4. 1 tsp Green chilli paste.
  5. 4-5 tbsp Mutared oil.
  6. to taste Salt.
  7. As needed turmeric powder.
  8. 2 pieces Banana leaf.
  9. Cotton string.

Step by step how to cook Ilish Paturi:

  1. Cut the banana leaf in square shape and each leaf about 20cm*50cm..
  2. In a mixing bowl add fish,mustared paste,khus khus paste,green chilli paste, 2 tbsp mutared oil and salt and ternmeric and mix it well..
  3. On low heat gently toast the sheet and the mustared paste centerd on the banana leaf and the marinated fish on it..
  4. Carefully fold the banana leaf and wrap the fish complitly and tie with a cotton string..
  5. Heat remain oil in a pan and place the paturi side by side..
  6. Cover and steam on low heat atlist 5 min..
  7. Turn over and cover and cook the other side too..
  8. Served hot with boiled rice..
