Ingredients for Nigerian meatpies:
- dough.
- 500 g Flour(4cups).
- 1 teaspoon Baking powder.
- 250 g Butter.
- pinch Salt.
- 1/4 cup cold water.
- 2 Eggs.
- fillings.
- 250 g mince meat.
- 1 medium sized Potato.
- Scotch bonnet.
- 1 onion.
- 1 carrot.
- 2 seasoning cube.
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme.
- 1 cooking spoon veg. Oil.
- 1/2 cup water (125ml).
- 1 tbspn Flour+3tblspn water.
- 1 Egg.

Step by step how to cook Nigerian meatpies:
- For the dough; Put 500g of flour in a bowl, add the baking powder,pinch of salt,eggs&butter mix very well.
- Add cold water in bits while at same time folding the mix till a stiff ball of dough is formed. Knead the dough and allow to rest for 5-7mins.
- For the fillings;peel the potatoes and carrot cut into tiny cubes&cut the onions into tiny pieces.
- Heat oil on medium heat add in the onions,scotch bonnet and stir for a bit,add mince meat and stir untill it turns pale.
- Add half cup of water, seasoning cubes and thyme. Once it starts boiling add the potatoes&carrots and cook.
- Dilute 1tablespoon of flour with 1/4cup cold water and add to the meatpie filling(it makes the filling moist so that it won’t dry up when baking).
- Add salt to taste, Stir and turn off the heat.
- Set your oven to 170 degrees C(335F).
- Rub butter on the baking tray and set aside.
- Break an egg and set aside.
- Knead the dough some more, roll it to 5mm thickness.
- Use meatpie cutter to make round cuts on the rolled dough.
- Scoop some meatpie filling into the center,rub the egg on the inside edges of the dough and fold.
- When you’re done place in the greased pan and rub the egg on the meatpies and bake 30-40mins.
